The book features many examples of unexpected ways to organize work towards satisfying customers. The examples are delightful. I started to see excellence in the small things, and learned to seek excellence in myself.
In particular, I recall the example of the very traditional factory with departments optimized for common work, yet featuring a two-person team tasked with handling unusual requests from customers, breaking silos and coordinating internal work as needed.
Why I bought this book
During the Post-Graduate Course on Management on the Portuguese Catholic University, I was exposed to the "management gurus" and bought several books. Tom Peters was the most remarkable and approachable guru.
